RANCHO CIENEGA TENNIS CLUB (R.C.T.C.) is pleased to announce that they are offering an opportunity for high school students to receive a $500 scholarship towards college tuition (or other college related expenses). R.C.T.C. wants to be able to support higher learning for young people in our community that are in financial need by providing this scholarship through the generous donations of its club members and others in the greater LA community.
APPLICATION CRITERIA
- Applicants must be a high school senior
- Live and attend school in LA County
SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION CRITERIA
- Financial Need
- Community involvement
- School achievement (minimum 3.0 GPA)
- Participation in organized tennis program
WHAT IS NEEDED
- Scholarship application
- Copy of most recent report card
- Two Letters of recommendation: one must be from a teacher, counselor or school administrator and one from another source not school related
- Essay/Personal Statement – The applicant must submit an essay that should consist of no more than 750 words and no less than 250 words. It should be typed and address the following components: 1) Your career objectives, 2) reasons why you should be a scholarship recipient and 3) a short biography of past academic accomplishments and future academic goals.
- Photograph – it can be any size and will be used to help the committee identify applicants and for promotional purposes if the applicant receives the scholarship
- Proof of college acceptance
DEADLINE
Completed application must be received on or before April 1st. The application can be sent via email to vicepresidentrctc@ranchotennisclub.org , mailed to R.C.T.C. P.O. BOX 431589, Los Angeles, CA 90043, or hand delivered to any R.C.T.C. Board member.
Recipients/Awardee will be notified by R.C.T.C. President and awarded scholarship at next club event/meeting.
